Ramblings 1: Bad Tenants
When we first moved to Spokane, our apartment was very ideal. We actually live in Spokane Valley, so out of the way of the hustle and bustle of city life (if you can call it that. Spokane is a huge city with a small town feel...). The manager lives above us and when we moved in, the manager was a single, older lady who was quiet as a mouse. Enter two months later: our perfect living situation becomes a nightmare (that may be a bit harsh...). Our manager moved out and we received a new manager who moved in above us with not one, but TWO teenage kids. This wouldn't be a problem, but the manager was continuously out of town, leaving only her teenage son at home for days at a time. The son always, without fail, took advantage of the situation and would throw parties and have friends over at all hours of the morning. Usually the ruckus was the worst between 2 and 4 in the morning. We called the cops on 4 separate occasions before we finally filed an official complaint with management (we had spoken with her before about the situation, but she just apologized and made excuses for her kids). They moved in in December and at the end of March is when we filed the official complaint. We had just had it with her son. In March, every night for a week, he threw a party involving alcohol, music, tons of people, and lots and lots and lots of cigarettes, most of which landed on our balcony or in "our backyard" area. The manager wasn't in when we dropped of the letter, but called us the next day informing us that she was kicking her son out of the apartment and he was to be gone by the weekend. Hallelujah!!! We were going to have our wonderful, peaceful apartment to ourselves again! She explained to us how she had been planning to kick him our for a long time because he was always very rebellious with her and kept taking advantage of living with her. The past month has been glorious and we can hear the birds chirping in the morning again and can take naps without having to block out the sounds and vibrations of the music coming above us. We also weren't afraid to put Max to sleep in his own room because we knew he wouldn't be awoken by people running up and down the stairs, shaking the walls of his bedroom. Cherry Ridge Apartments has become idealistic once again :)
